Flatter day Saturday

Are you ready to get to know a little bit more about Joan Anderson?
Let's do just that.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, and still live in the area. I am a CPA, but currently work in technology managing financial systems. I have been married 7 years, and my husband and I have a dog and 2 cats who are very spoiled since my husband owns a pet store! They are always in the vicinity when I am stamping – hence the name of my blog: Tails in the Stamp Room.

How did you first get involved in stamping?

I was invited to a Stampin Up Party over 10 years ago, and the rest is history!

What is your stamping style?

To be determined… and always changing depending on my mood! Sometimes I love clean and simple cards, other times I can’t get enough layers and bling. I enjoy many different styles of stamps from vintage to cutesy.

Tell us about your creative process

I sometimes have a hard time getting the creative thoughts flowing, and it seems I need to find a starting point – something like a specific image I want to use, a pretty color combination in some patterned paper, or tool I want to try. Once I have that starting point I just let the creativity flow from there, trying different things together until I find what I like. This quite often leads to a complete mess in my stamping room as I pull things out to try!

What is your favorite {ippity} stamp set and why?

Oh my goodness, it is so hard to choose. Currently I would say it is Devoted for a couple of reasons. I love butterflies and nature, and I have lately been drawn to using sentiments as the focal point of my project, and this set has some great ones!

How often do you stamp?

Not enough! I try to make time to stamp every weekend, but would love to be able to make time every day for creating.

How long does it take you to make a project you are happy with?

Sometimes it is fairly quick – I have a vision in my mind and it all just comes together in about half an hour. Other times, I am trying different things for quite awhile. However, if an hour goes by and I am still stuck, I put the project aside and start on something else. I find I will have better luck when I come back to it later with a fresh eye and mind.

What does your craft room look like? {messy, clean, etc.}

It goes from organized to messy in a split second! I like to have it somewhat organized when I start a project, but it doesn’t take long for that to change.

What is your biggest paper crafting challenge?

Branching out from my good old stand by color combos and using more patterned paper – I am especially trying to learn to mix more patterns without it becoming too “busy.”

What is the name of your Ippity Sales Blog?

http://www.ippitystamping.blogspot.com/

What made you decide to start selling Ippity?

I had just made the decision to drop my SU demoship when I saw the information about Ippity on SCS. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to work with a great company, and that has most definitely turned out to be the case!

Just for FUN Questions

What song best describes you?

Dream Big by Ryan Shupe

If you were stranded on a desert island what are the three things you would bring?

A boat (#1) filled with all my stamping stuff (#2) and someone to navigate back to civilization while I stamped (#4)! Ok, so I cheated a bit…..

What is your favorite quote?

“He who laughs…. lasts” – Erma Bombeck (Just one of many of her quotes that I love!)

What would I find in your refrigerator right now?

Milk, fruit, veggies and lots of the deli to feed to my husband so I have more time to stamp.

If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?

Healing the sick

If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?

Laughter IS the best medicine!

What would your dream vacation be?

A cruise through the Greek Isles

Wasn't it so nice getting to know Joan alittle more.. Make sure you check out her sales blog if you are interested in purchasing any Ippity Stamps.

Have a great Saturday.

Fresh Idea with Fabric

Hello and  Happy FRIDAY!!! Is anyone else sooooo ready for the weekend? I am! It's been a long week with a sick kiddo. Happily, little man is feeling better. I am too, because I got some stampy time AND I get to share it with you today.
I pulled out some fabric I had in my stash and decided to use it 3 different ways.  I'm hoping it will inspire you to try creating with fabric.  Don't have any??? Don't be afraid to go into your closet (or your kid's...they always have way cute patterns. but pick something they've out grown) and find something you haven't worn in a LONG time or that doen't quite fit right anymore and cut it up!

So here's what I did with it. First, I used a rectangle and stitched it to some cardstock. I used it just like pattern paper. It adds such a nice texture! This quote, just spoke to me, yesterday. It's from Quotes à la Happy.

Next up, I decided to make some flowers with it. This flower literally took me 3 minutes to create. I cut 2 circles, one a little larger than the other, then I ripped a strip of the same fabric, twisted it up and coiled it to make the center.  A little fabric glue and I was good to go. I let it dry while I assembled the rest of the card. DONE!  {ippity} stamps here are from Quotes à la Happy! Oh, and leaves are from Now & Always!

Then I went really easy and die-cut some fabric. I had my Hearts A Plenty die out and cut two of the hearts out, then pulled a little at the edges to give a more raw, homespun feel to them. A fun color combo, Book It and  How You Doin' stamp sets and this turned out to be my fave of the day!
So there you have it. 3 ways to add fabric to your cards. I hope you feel inspired to give it a try! Enjoy the weekend and thanks for stopping by!

That's How Thursday!!

Hello there sweet {ippity} friends!
To carry on with our week 4 monthly challenge "using ribbon",
I thought I would share with you a
super quick, easy, and fun way to spice up your ribbon!!

You ask how?  I will tell you how (smile) !!

Today, we are adding TEXTURED EMBOSSING
to satin ribbon for our {ippity} projects!!

I love how it feels & adds that extra pop to your ribbon!!

(click to enlarge and see detail)

Here's what you can do to add TEXTURE  to your SATIN RIBBON...

You're only using 3 items: satin ribbon, heavy starch spray, & an embossing folder!!

1) cut your satin ribbon to the length you desire
2) spritz the cut satin ribbon with Heavy Starch Spray
3) let the ribbon air dry (optional: use a heat gun to speed up dry process)
4) using any embossing folder, run ribbon through your Cuttlebug/Big Shot (I ran my ribbon back and forth twice to give more dimension)

Viola!  That's it!  How easy was that!

Details for this project - "Smile" Card
Supplies for this project - Stamps: {ippity} "How You Doin'?"; Designer Paper: My Mind's Eye "Hazel" 6x6 Pad; Die Cuts: Spellbinders; Ink: Memento; Flower: Recollections; Leaves: Doodlebug; Pearls: Michael's Arts & Crafts; Satin Ribbon: Michael's Arts & Crafts; Lace: Joanne's Fabrics; Heavy Starch Spray: Faultless (find it in your local grocery store); Embossing Folder: Cuttlebug

Ippity Blossoms

Are you ready to meet our new Ippity Blossom?
Her name is JOAN Anderson

Creative blog
Sales blog
http://www.ippitystamping.blogspot.com/

Here is a little peek of a beautiful frame that Joan made .

Now a little about Joan.

Your upcoming craft fair events

I host 2 card clubs at my house the first Saturday of each month – a birthday/special occasion club and a Christmas card club. If you are in the Kent, WA , area feel free to email me at jkstampin@hotmail.com for more details – we have loads of fun and would love to have you join us!

Tips or advertising ideas you have learned along the way

Keep creating and they will come…. Keep using Ippity stamps for cards, classes, your blog, facebook… wherever you can. People will notice!

Class ideas

Show versatility by using the same stamp kit in different ways – cards, tags, gift bags, altered items… even using the same stamp with a different color scheme can give a card a totally different feel. People are much more likely to invest in a product they feel they’ll use over and over, and not just for one specific card or project.

Start a Christmas Card Club – I run mine March through November. At each meeting, attendees make 5 cards from the same design. They can choose a different design each month, or make the same one each time. If they come every month, they will have 45 handmade Christmas cards ready to go before Thanksgiving!

Make sure you stop by Joan's Blogs for inspiration and her sales blog if you are interesed in purchasing any of the ippity stamp sets.

Let me introduce you to her!

Let me share a little more about Laura with her own words.

Tell us a little about yourself.
I live in Aloha Oregon,  I have 2 girls who also love ippity and crafting and sometimes have projects on my blog too.  When I am not at school or my office    (www.freebears.com I have been selling stuffed animals online for over 10 years now! And my etsy shop, www.hairribbonboutique.etsy.com ) I am crafting, whether it is machine embroidery, cooking or paper crafting.  My husband is very supportive of my habits and even follows some manufacturers twitter accounts so he can chat with me about the latest!  How cute is that!!

How did you first get involved in stamping?
My mom started hosting stampin up parties when I was in middle school, and I usually attended them with her.  Once my girls grew up a bit more I started looking around for a hobby and ended up with paper crafting.

 What is your stamping style?
Anything with lace or ribbon J

Tell us about your creative process
I need to have big mess and start creating elements and then it eventually comes together.  I keep a box of things that are interesting to me, tags, pictures, ribbon, color combos, and when I need inspiration start looking at those

What is your favorite {ippity} stamp set and why?
Regal greetings  I use it all the time!  I even used it to make labels for my fabric bins.

 How often do you stamp?
As often as I can but it is not often enough!  Usually on the weekends.

How long does it take you to make a project you are happy with?
That is a tough question!  The time can vary I have thrown some cards together in minutes and been shocked with the results and spent hours on others and hated them.

What is your biggest paper crafting challenge?
Trying to be fair to all my stamps and use them!  So many supplies so much paper sooooo little time!

What is the name of your Ippity Sales Blog?

What made you decide to start selling Ippity?
It was my birthday and I wanted Regal Greetings and the local ippity chick ( Michelle Woerner) was out!  So I decided to sign up and get it (and a few more for myself)

Tell us about your experience selling Ippity
I have not done much with it online yet, but have had interest from local ladies.

What song best describes you?
Dynamite by Taio Cruz

If you were stranded on a desert island what are the three things you would bring?
My family( counts as one, right?), music, ribbon.  Think of all the uses for ribbon!

 What is your favorite quote?
“I’ve learned you can’t have everything and do everything at the same time” – Oprah Winfrey

What would I find in your refrigerator right now?
Diet Pepsi, and I really don’t know, we’d have to ask my husband J he is a chef and handles all of our food for the most part.

If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?
Well…  I would need a cape, preferably pink!  Flying!

If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?
Laura, and the Crafts She Keeps
