from Sarah in her own words....

Tell us a little about yourself.
Hi! I'm a Kansasan native...married 7 years to my best friend from college & a stay at home momma of 2 little girls, ages 3 yrs & 7 months. I keep pretty busy with the kids, creating for craft shows (tutus, baby/kid items, etc), church (playing the guitar), gardening, baking, and more. It's hard to believe I ever had time to be a Director of Christian Education years ago. How life changes. :-)

How did you first get involved in stamping?
I've been crafting...and creating for so many years I really don't remember when I started playing with stamps. I know I was a little girl. However in the past couple years I have become more focused on stamping. You can use stamps for so many things...cards, scrapbooking, home decorating, and more. I like getting the most for my money...so stamping makes better financial sense to me (unless of course you want all the stamps!).

What is your stamping style?
Simple...I keep pushing myself to try other techniques and styles, however I tend to keep things simple. Plus I love using kraft cardstock...and seems to say simple to me. :-)

Tell us about your creative process...
Most of the time I just grab a stamp or paper that is calling my name and go with the flow of creative juices that hit me. Other times I know I have a birthday, or special occasion to create for that helps direct me.

What is your favorite {ippity} stamp set and why?
Gee Whiz...that's tough - I like them all. Faves (how about one from each release)....Devoted, What Matters Most, Now & Always, Quotes a'la Happy, Sing A New Song

How often do you stamp?
As often as I can. Crafting with kids is a bit tough, especially when they want to be involved.. (Don't get me wrong - I love my daughters interest in stamping...but my bits of perfectionism gets the better of me when I have too many helpers & I'm trying to create for myself or others.

How long does it take you to make a project you are happy with?
Since time is limited for me...I try to create in 30 minutes...however sometimes it can be an hour depending on the project or if the creative juice hasn't kicked in.

What does your craft room look like?
Messy desk when I'm creating...fairly orgainzed space otherwise. I have to stop and clean periodically so I can mentally function and the creativitity continues to flow.

What is your biggest paper crafting challenge?
Having the time I would like to have to craft....and combining patterned papers.
What is the name of your Creative Blog?
http://thejoysofcreating.blogspot.com

What is the name of your Ippity Sales Blog?
http://thejoysofcreatingippity.blogspot.com

What made you decide to start selling Ippity?
I wanted to share my joy of crafting & stamping, the hope to earn a bit of $ and I love the designs Unity/Ippity have in stamps.

Tell us about your experience selling Ippity
I have enjoyed sharing my passion of crafting...and showing others {ippity} creations and stamps! Everyone I've shared with are thrilled with the designs. I hope to start offering classes this spring.

What song best describes you?
My hubby says it should be "Raindrops keep fallin' on my head." Because as the lryics say...

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head

But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red

Cryin's not for me

'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'

Because I'm free

Nothin's worryin' me

If you were stranded on a desert island what are the three things you would bring?
Can I make it 4 things.. A hammock, Margaritas, satelite phone and a Hot Man (which can not be my husband I was informed...as he doesn't want to be stranded on an island.)

What is your favorite quote?
Psalm 46:10 - Be still and know that I am God.

What would I find in your refrigerator right now?
Soup, milk, eggs, cheese, tortillas, yogurt, fruit, carrots, baby food, caramel dip & apples

If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?
More time, More sleep, More patience

If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?
Just Another Day in...??? (you fill in the blank)

What would your dream vacation be?
I would go back to Ireland, Germany & Italy. However I would be thrilled to simply take a trip with my hubby to the mountains for a long weekend.

THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN...
thanks for stopping by and be sure to visit SARAH's blogs...
don't forget she has her IPPITY ON SALE!

Fresh Idea Friday

Hello friends and hello weekend!

Can you believe January is almost at its end???
What a fast pace to the beginning of 2011!!!

And that also means...
VALENTINE'S DAY
is almost here.  Eeeek.

So, I thought I would share a sweet little Valentine that could be mass produced.

I am going to be honest, I have never mass produced a Valentine in my LIFE!  But I think these turned out pretty darn cute and would totally make them for my kid's {if I had one} classroom.

Supplies
  • Now and Always stamp kit
  • Straight from the Heart stamp kit
  • Season of Joy stamp kit
  • red card stock
  • white card stock
  • red, pink and black ink
  • Versamark embossing ink
  • white embossing pen
  • blender pen {I used the one by Tombow}
  • anywhere or long reach hole punch
  • small suckers {like dum-dums}
Plus, I created a little video tutorial as well.  Hope you like it.

There is still time to get in on January's
Hippity Hop Twist Challenge.
The deadline for all your projects is January 30th at Midnight CST.
Check out the Ippity SCS Forum for all the deets.

The PRIZE is pretty AWESOME.  We've made it BIG since it is a MONTH long challenge.  It is an Ippity Prize PACK, so it is not just a stamp set.  It could have a mix of paper, ink, embellishments or more thrown in.  Ippity is pretty generous, so it is going to be ONE AMAZING prize!

Monday we reveal a whole NEW set of challenges for February.
I hope you are enjoying the new challenge format as much as we are!

Have a wonderful weekend!

That's How Thursday!

Hi there, it's Eva here today!  I promised you a little tutorial on Monday, so I am here to share that with you today!

It's all about BRADS and SILHOUETTE.

Well, you don't need Silhouette for it, but that is what I used.  So here is the card I made to share my little tutorial.

You see the little flourish of brads?  Well, I used Samantha' Walker's Flourish Swirl rhinestone Silhouette cutting file  to create my pattern with.  Isn't this pretty?  It's really to use with rhinestones, but I thought it would be perfect with brads as well.

Once I cut the pattern, I placed it on my patterned paper I was going to use for my card and I marked the spots I was going to place my brads in.

Once marked, I just pierced my holes.

And at last I placed the brads in the holes.

And viola....again, here is a close up of my card using brads.

I hope this inspires you a little bit to look at brads in a different view.  It sure made me think different about them.  I have quite a bit of amount of brads from the past and this could be a fun way to use them.

Hope you enjoyed this little tutorial!

a little tip from sarah, in her own words...
I have found the way people are drawn into {ippity}stamps is seeing the stamps in use. Especially when they can see the stamps used in several different ways, ie other than just cards.. Small thank you notes, decorated sacks, tags, etc using the {ippity} stamps is another easy way to showcase {ippity} and entice the desire for other stamp sets. ;-)

some fabulous class ideas from sarah...
Mommy (or Daddy) & Me class...an opportunity for mom's/dad's to stamp & teach their kids. A couple cards, a photo frame & oranment, tag or clip/pin. Classes making cards of holidays, seasons, birthdays, general, etc.

HOORAY...that was FUN...

Card Sketchin' with Ippity!!

Hello there!  Hope you are having a wonderful Saturday!  It's Karen just sharing a quick and easy
tip for you today!  When you are in the need for a mojo jump start... there's a shortcut that I think we can all rely on..and that would be card sketches!!

Today, I am using the "Farm Fresh" and "How You Doin'?" {ippity} stamp sets!!  I've had this 6x6 Webster's designer papers, and when this pie stamp was introduced, I immediately new I'd be using these papers!  I love the Americana feel to these papers, and that pie (I think I will call it a cherry one) as the top corner of the papers lead me to this decision...is so delish with that paper-pieced crust (giggle)!!

If you are interested in playing along with this SC315 Card Sketch, visit the SCS Forum and play along!  There's never a deadline to meet, they have a new sketch every week to entice us, and what an awesome way to promote our love for {ippity} stamps!!

I love that you can use them to spark up your creativity, flip them, or just use the basic sketch provided!  I'll be sure to upload my card on the forum, and I'd love to see yours there too sharing some {ippity} goodness!!

That's it for me today! Sure hope I was able to help in spicing up your mojo for the day!!   Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

That's How Thursday

Hey everyone it's Stephanie here to share a quick tutorial with you!!! Now I know you have seen how popular banners have become in the crafting world and I know you want to try to get the most out of those spellbinder dies. So I have come up with a new to me way to make these sweet little banners using those small spellbinder dies that we never really know what to do with at least I never know what to do with the smaller dies!!!

Supplies
Dp Pink Paislee and Kraft cardstock for cardbase
Spellbinders Label die
twine and buttons
scoring tool
Pop dots adhesive
Ippity stamps-How You Doin'
Party Hat Wishes and your ink

Step 1
Die cut your labels and score down the middle forming a triangle.
I decided on three triangles for my card you decide according to your card size on how many you want!!!
Step 2
Place your pop dots on each of the banners and then place your twine as close to the score line as possible!!!

Step 3
Now it's time to fold and make your banners and then you can adjust your twine where you want it. Then tie a knot at each end of your banner and trim extra twine off.

Step 4
Now the fun part putting your card together!!!
Stamp your images I did a little paper piecing for the scallops.
Add more pop dots to the back of your banners and adhere to your cardbase.
Your done!!!

I hope you enjoyed and have a fabulous day!!!
